Tanah Lot Temple is one of the most famous sea temples (pura segara) in Bali. This temple is located on a large rock in the middle of the sea, in the Beraban area, Tabanan. The name Tanah Lot itself comes from the words “tanah” which means land or island and “lot” or lod which means sea. Its location off the coast means you need to pass through a stone path when the sea water is low if you want to come to this temple.
When the sea water is high, this temple appears to be standing on a rock in the middle of the sea that is separated from the mainland, providing an amazing view, especially at sunset. Tanah Lot is also known as a symbol of romance on the Island of the Gods. Here, you can also find the Silhouette of Tanah Lot Temple, one of the most popular icons on the island of Bali.
